Afro Hair Style Inspiration Series
From my observation, many women who don’t wear their natural hair regularly and constantly wear braids, wigs, or weaves do so because they don’t know how to care for their hair and, more importantly, they don’t know how to style it in a way that makes them feel attractive.
As a woman, that’s a big deal, and it has nothing to do with the male gaze. We all want to like what we see in the mirror.
Our hair is beautiful and requires proper care to flourish and reach its full potential.
Despite what you may hear on these internet streets, you don’t have to “put your hair away” for months at a time to retain length. It’s often counterproductive. Neglecting your hair is the opposite of actively caring for it, which includes regularly cleansing the scalp from which it grows and removing shed hair to reduce tangles.
You can cleanse your hair weekly and put it in a style that lasts for the week.
I’ve organized the series based on length because the length of your hair directly impacts which styles you can easily achieve. The styles in this series aren’t all-encompassing, but they cover a range that isn’t always represented online.
If you follow natural hair channels on YouTube right now, you’d think your only options are wash and go’s, twist outs, mini-braids, or mini-twists. That can’t be further from the truth.
